September 13, 2021:  Floral design Demo and "How to Host a Small Standard Flower Show"
  • Master Flower Show Judge Carol Lucia will demonstrate three of the easier designs

  • Meet in the Wine Room - look for signs in the lobby to direct you there
  • There will be a fee for the luncheon

January 10, 2022:  "Guided tour of Marietta Museum of Art and Whimsy"
  • Marietta (Mary) will be our guide
  • There is no charge for this program.
  • This museum is described as a "Cheerful gallery featuring offbeat, contemporary paintings, sculpture & other artwork."

February 14, 2022
:
 "Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium ECO Boat Tour" = CANCELLED DUE TO OMICRON!
  • Join a marine biologist on this 1 hour, 45 minute cruise through Sarasota and Roberts Bays on a 45-foot pontoon boat.
  • Please arrive 30 minutes before the tour starts 
  • There will be a fee charged for this tour

February 16, 2022: Esplanade Amenity Center Fire Pit     NOTE: This is a Wednesday
  • An informal outdoor social from 4-6 PM 
  • Bring a snack and a beverage.  
  • There will be activities to help us get to know one another even better!
  • 5240 Esplanade Blvd., Lakewood Ranch 34211
  • Esplanade has two gates you can enter: 
  1. From Lakewood Ranch Blvd., a gate on Rangeland Parkway is usually open til 5 PM as a construction entrance.  Once inside the gate, take your first left turn onto Napoli Run.  Go one long block — take your first left onto Palermo Drive.  Go two short blocks - at the “T” intersection, turn left.  The Amenity Center will be on your right.
  2. The gate on Malachite Drive at White Eagle Blvd. is staffed and you will need to enter using the visitor lane.  Give the guard your name; mention that you are visiting me Karen Eckert at 5206 Napoli Run.  To get to the Amenity Center:  at the traffic circle, take the first exit onto Esplanade Blvd.  The Amenity Center will be on your right about 4 blocks down.  If you plan to come this way, let me know so that I can give your name to the guard in advance.

March 14, 2022:  Pie Day!!  (Pi = 3.14.....) and “Indoor Palms”
  • Presented by Master Gardener Amy Stripe 
  • and “A Palm in your Hand” design tips from Betty Call
  • Pie Day:  members each bring one whole pie [purchased or homemade] cut into 8 slices; we swap slices, keeping one slice to eat during at the meeting.

  • Nominations for President and 2nd Vice President will also be presented - this is your chance to volunteer to be a GOE leader to help guide the club into the future!

April 11, 2022: "Sunken Gardens Tour"
  • 4 acres of well-established botanical gardens, located in the Historic Old Northeast neighborhood of St. Petersburg, Florida. The Gardens have existed for more than a century, and are one of the oldest roadside tourist attractions in the United States.
  • There will be a fee to enter
  • Lunch and shopping at  Mazarro’s Italian Market and Gift Shop (2909 22nd Avenue N, St Petersburg, FL 33713)  
  • Election of Officers - if running unopposed, candidates will be elected without a formal vote

May 9, 2022: "Hats off to GOE" Season Finale - Pot Luck Luncheon
  • Hosted by: Susan Gimbert
  • May 9 is a Monday,  from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM ET
  • Lyn Simensen's Home  - 5214 Benito Ct (Esplanade) Lakewood Ranch
  • Speaking of hats (garden party hats!),  if you are so inclined, come wearing your favorite topper to celebrate the end if this season.  I will be wearing mine! 
  • ​Members please bring a dish to share and a serving spoon. The board members will provide beverages and desserts.
  • If coming from outside Esplanade at Lakewood Ranch, you must use the gate at Malachite Drive and White Eagle Blvd.   Mention “Lyn Simensen - 5214 Benito Court" to the guard at the gate.
  • Guests are welcome to attend.
  • If you haven’t yet mailed your membership renewal form, check for $35 and survey to Ginny, please bring them with you on Monday or drop them in the mail to Ginny (4919 Benito Court, Lakewood Ranch, FL 34211).  It’s not too late!
  • Alas and finally!  We will have a short business meeting to elect officers.  (We were one member short of a quorum in April so we could not vote then.)  Candidates are Carolyn Lowry-Nation, President, and Joann Graceffo, 2nd Vice President/Program Chair.
