Gardeners Out East 2017 - 2018  Program Calendar
We generally meet the second Monday at 1:00 pm from September to May each year.

Our 2017 - 2018 Program Calendar below is tentative but the dates are correct and can be put on your calendar.

September 11, 2017: CANCELLED DUE TO IRMA! "Native Wildflowers"

  • ​NOTE: At 1:00 pm, we will observe a moment of silence at the Blue Star Memorial Marker located in front of  LWR Town Hall
​​October 9, 2017: Gardening in the Lanai (techniques)
  • 1:00 to 3:00 pm: Your Farm and Garden Garden Center, 735 South Beneva Road, Sarasota

November 13, 2017:  The 411 on Gardening in Manatee County:  a Newcomer's Guide to Gardening in Lakewood Ranch by Karen Eckert

    • ​Bring a pie to share, we'll provide drinks/forks/plates. And you'll go home with pieces from others' pies!
    • This will be our first business meeting as well.

December 14, 2017:  Holiday Luncheon at The Field Club (In lieu of regular December 11, 2017 meeting) NOTE: This event is on a Thursday and is  for MEMBERS ONLY AND THEIR GUESTS.
  • 11:00 am to 1:30 pm: The Field Club, 1400 Field Road, Sarasota 34231-2302
  • ​Cost: $30 per member, $35 per guest, check(s) made payable to: "Gardeners Out East", due by 12/7/2017 with your menu choices: Seafood, Chicken OR Vegetarian crepes, all served with a side of asparagus and spiced peach.  Dessert:  Peppermint Ice Cream with Fudge Sauce OR Key Lime Pie Tartlet
    • Chef can accommodate special diets—just note what type of meal is needed – ie gluten-free, hypoglycemic, etc. and chef will create one for you.

March 12, 2018:  Pruning and Roses 
  • 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm: Lakewood Ranch Town Hall, 8175 Lakewood Ranch Blvd., Lakewood Ranch, FL 34202
  • Presented by: Tom Eckert, Master Gardener
  • NOTE:  March 14 is National Learn About Butterflies Day (TBD: Farm/City bus trip)
April 9, 2018: Road Trip! Sunken Gardens and Lunch
  • 9 AM    Recommended departure time from LWR is no later than 9 AM 
  • 10 AM  Tour starts at Sunken Gardens, 1825 14th Street N, St. Petersburg, FL  -  Cost:  $8 CASH
    • Sunken Gardens asks that one person pay a lump sum for the group so please bring cash and plan to give it to Karen Eckert when we meet at Sunken Gardens. 
  • 12:15 PM Lunch at Mazzaro Italian Market, 2909 22nd Avenue N, St. Petersburg, FL.  
    • During lunch the slate of officers for 2018 - 2019 will be presented for members to vote on.
